Imagine a giant, packed assembly room, filled with nervous contestants ready to see the results of their hard work. Finally! The projectors light up and start to show the results of the placements for each category and an announcer calls out the places. It slowly switches categories until every category has been shown.

This is the last and most exciting part of Business Professionals of America state competition.  This is when all contestants see how well their hard work has finally payed off and whether or not they will be going to the Nationals part of the competition. For Grace High School’s BPA chapter, it is also a time to cheer on friends and fellow competitors. According to Heather Mansfield, “I was very proud of my team and grateful for the opportunity we’ve been given.” Heather Mansfield, along with the rest of the Administrative Support Team, nervously stood on stage and were shocked when they were called for first place.

Grace also had a candidate run for a State Officer position. Hunter Anderson was voted in for the position of Idaho State BPA Vice President. “It was really terrifying to speak in front of a thousand people, but it is really rewarding to have been elected,” he joyfully claimed.

From playing card games in the lobby of the hotel to enjoying meeting new people, BPA state is an exciting and fun place to be. The BPA state competition is an unforgettable high school experience.

Spencer Christensen, our chapter adviser, also received an award. Mr. Christensen won The National Emerging Adviser of the Year award, which is a fancy name that states that we have one of the best advisers ever.

For those working hard in preparation for nationals, good luck!
