Hearts pounding, the whistle blows and the first ball of the season is in play. The anticipation could be seen across the girls faces. As the ball is spinning over the net, the girls get in their positions. The libero gets a perfect pass right to our setter, who sets a beautiful set to the outside. As the ball is soaring through the air, our hitter approaches the ball with swiftness. She concentrates on where she is going to place it. As she jumps in the air, higher than she has ever jumped before, she swings hard and the balls smacks down to the ground. The whole team goes wild, jumping up and down cheering loudly and with that the Lady Grizzlies get a great start to their volleyball season.

Over the summer, Coach Heidi Stoddard challenged all of the volleyball players to read the book Mind Gym. This book talks about how important mental strength is, and how a person should be mentally ready and prepared throughout any obstacle they face. As the volleyball team kicks off their season they use what they have learned from the book and they are all prepared to play tough schools, but they know that if they work together as a team they will be able to succeed.

The volleyball team is very excited for the upcoming season, and they are ready to train hard. With the help of volunteer coach Bailey Christensen, she helps the girls condition and push themselves to be better everyday. As the next games are approaching, the girls plan to play hard and leave everything they have on the court.
