Buckets, Buckets, Buckets, that’s what we like to hear right? Hard work in practice is what helps make this possible. The boys’ basketball team is working harder than ever preparing for late February and early March. With the season just getting started and only going for a few weeks, their current record is 9-4. Their first loss came against West Side to kick the season off, but they did not let this knock them off their game winning the next three games. All the players have great attitudes, and like how everything is starting to turn out. Payton Lloyd was asked what he thought about the start to the season. Payton giggled, “It’s for sure a lot better than last season. I hope we can keep our winning streak going as long as possible.” The Grizzlies are having lots of fun, and they are on top of their game.

With everyone playing like pros, how about playing where the pros play? On the 28th of December the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams had the opportunity to play in the Vivint Smart Home Arena, in other words where the Utah Jazz play in Salt Lake City, Utah, against Sky View’s JV. Everyone was stoked after Coach Rory Lloyd broke the news to the team. Efrain Velazquez exclaimed, “It’s a dream come true. Playing on a court with so many memories is going to be super fun.” Unfortunately nobody could do the MJ push off to win the game because we were already ahead at the end of the game.

With the talent there on the team, hopefully everyone will play together. The most decorated basketball player in the world by the name of Michael Jordan once explained, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” This is great to hear with all of the boys’ goals set on a state championship. With this said, a dream could be turned into reality.
